Electrical draw with all breakers off -

A question for the 40/40 and 35 owners. When my distribution panel is on, i have a 0.6 amp draw with all breakers turned off. I used an amp clamp all over trying to find where this trickle is coming from with no luck. Then it dawned upon me. Theres a few tiny indicator bulbs behind the panel that illuminate the lables of the breakers. I cant tell if they are LED or not, nor do i know what they draw individually. So my question is this - is this draw normal with those bulbs? I have solar on the boat, so im not concerned about my battery but i am concerned if this a parasidic drain from somewhere yet to be identified…

Can anyone else confirm this is normal?

Thanks

I had the same on my 35, about half an amp. Never figured it out

On my current boat it is .1 amp which I’m guessing is the meter.

I stopped worrying about it at some point!

Aha. Well I bet your 35 had the same distribution panel made by Bass. Do you remember if it had back lighting?

I suppose i should go down to the boat and count the bulbs and do the research on what they draw.
If anyone else confirms this, I will consider this solved.

I’ll check draw on mine this weekend, there are 4 bulbs and not LED.

Could open panel mine has inline fuse holder feeding them open to see if draw goes away with lights off.

Thanks

Jay

That would be amazing jay. Thank you.

Since you have solar, it could be coming from your MPPT controller or other battery monitoring equipment. Most of my ghost draws are from things that are watching over the system as a whole. I’ve got about 1/3 of an amp going to it all when it’s dark out and all the breakers are off.

Good luck!

Good point. Currently the panels are de rigged for the winter but i do have victron battery monitor. I believe it draws less than 1 miliamp, which is nothing.

On BlueJacket, there was a switch for the back-lit lights (which are incandescent). What happens when you shut that off?

I dont believe i have a switch for that. They are always on when the DC panel has power

Hello,
I have a question that may seem a little silly to some:
Could it be that the needle on the dial is slightly out of alignment?
In that case, wouldn’t there be a screw somewhere to adjust the needle to zero?

I am getting the 0.6 reading from my victron battery monitor/ shunt as well as the analog guage.

I’m getting .4 with everything off except backlight and only 3 working

Thank you for confirming !

Since i started this thread I felt the need to go down to the boat and open up the panel. All those green lights are the panel indicator bulbs. There must be 45 of them. Since theres so many, I am going to assume that they must be LED.

Glad to hear I am not the only one. I have about .3 amps going somewhere. Too lazy to go beyond basic troubleshooting.
