Has anyone replaced the plastic “stops” inside the inspection port
where the emergency tiller attaches to the rudder post? I have an
F28M. Edson says they didn’t make them.

I
replaced the whole inspection port but I can’t visualize any stops.
Could you elaborate?

Do you have a Mull 28? The port is on the stern(under where you sit at
the helm).Mine is a white plastic cover, inside is the top of the
rudder post. There are two(port and starboard) hard plastic pieces
slightly curved approximately 3x3/4 inch(each held by two screws)These
plastic things are on either side of the thing that you attach the
emergency tiller to. They stop the wheel/rudder from going too far
port or starboard. Why did you replace the inspection port? I noticed
a tiny drip of water from one of the nuts that attach to the 4 screws
inside the boat-I opened the inspection port to find the source of the
leak and saw that one of the plastic things had a little play in it-
the screw hole had stretched a little. Thanks for your help.

I
had a Mull 30 but would have assumed that they were mechanically identical.
I replaced the inspection port because the plastic had yellowed and stainless
looked nicer. But I have no recollection of the plastic parts you’ve
described. Sorry.
