Anyone out there with experience with the water heating system on
an '82 F33… our plastic hot water line ruptured. We were two
days
into ownership of this beautiful old used boat when the HW discharge
pipe burst at dock side while on shore power… probably from an
empty
water tank.
Are replacement parts available such as a blow-off valve? New tank?
New AC element? Is there a fail-safe device available for this
problem?
(pressure sensing or heat sensing off-switch for example.)
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

These parts are availabe. I got a new preasure valve at a plumbing supply
store or a marine store so no need to go original on that. The company that
made the heaters is still in business in Florida. I contacted them a couple
of years ago about getting a heating element, they had them but they were
$300+ so I didn’t bother. The company info is on my boat so I can’t get to
it untill this weekend. If noone sends you the information before that I
will try and remeber to bring it home with me.

Fantastic… Thanks much! I’m afraid that up here in the NW a water heater is
more than a luxury in the winter… the name of the company wojuld be very
helpful next time you get a chance. I will look for a pressure valve.
Thanks for the tips.
Gratefully,
Bob Kleven

My 33 has no electric hot h2o,only a heat exchanger, and as I generally am on
the hook,I don’t miss it . I did research water heaters, and found Isotemp
heaters about the only ones that would fit the limited space available. The
round ones will fit,and come 4,5,6 gallon size. As to parts, plumbing supply
stores can supply just about every plumbing need, vastly cheaper than West,et
al. As to the element ,I found Sendure, the original supplier of my unit, to
be more a hindrance than a help when I called them for assistance.I
eventually refurbished the old unit, which works better than ever.
