I have just repowered with the new 3YM30 Yanmar. I have a feeble 2-
bladed prop that come with the boat. I do not know size or pitch & the
boat is now in the water. What do I need to know about choosing a 3-
bladed prop? Does anybody have specific recommendations?
Thanks

I replaced my prop with a 15.5” 3
bladed feathering prop from Vari-prop.
The setting for my 3GM and transmission
reduction 12 degree pitch forward and reverse (these can be set differently on
the Variprop) . Original spec from Variprop was 13 degree but I find the 12
better in both directions.
They calculated it based on my
transmission reduction ration which varies so I doubt my specs would match what
you need.

I have a just replaced my F35 2 blade folding prop with a Kiwi 3 blade
feathering prop. Sails great and much more power at lower RPM in
forward and a world of difference in reverse. Also most vibration
eliminated.
The kiwi prop looks like a really interesting product. There’s one on
the shoalsailer next to Glory in Portsmouth, and I was fiddling with
it to see how durable it is. It seems really well built. Alas,
they’re only certified up to 55 hp, making them unsuitable for the
45s.

Yes…will work up to 55 hp…BUT only in a certain rpm range. The KIWI website is very good…and if you look around…you will find lots of real world applications. I and others have written about our experiences with these props in the old Freedom yahoo group.
