F25 Staysail Dimensions?

Posted by george_deyett (george_deyett@…>)

Does any know the dimensions of the optional staysail on the Freedom
25?

Posted by andre laviolette (andrelaviolette@…>)
Hi,

I have 2 staysails for my F25. One large ( about 150 sq ft ) and one more akin to a storm jib perhaps 30 sq ft. . I will measure them soon and forward to you. PHRF rating manual mentions 2 , one at 13.75 on the foot or more precisely Length Perpendicular and a 30.25 ft luff. The other a foot shorter on each dimention. These would be a little long on the luff for " Scaramanga " but you can do real tricks with the gun mount pole, all in light air of course, i.e. it depends on where you attach the tack.

Hey Andre,

Did you just purchase “Scaramanga” from FL? I was looking at this boat for a while and I totally regret not jumping on it!

Regards,
Mike

Hi Andre. I recently purchased Freedom 25 #257, and would like to
get a copy of the PHRF manual that you referred to in your message.
Please let me know where I can get a copy of it; or could you post
the manual on the “files” section of this website? Thank You.
Charlie (on Mobile Bay, Alabama)

Hi Charlie,

The way to obtain a PHRF manual is to belong ( pay ) to the USRU and through your club handicapper purchase one from them. Let me try through SLVYRA and get back to you. Rates about 198 - 201 sec. mile depending on mast and sails.

Hi Charlie-

I posted the F-25 manuals on the files section of this group some
time ago. There is a lot of info on your boat there. I have hull
#213, and am located in San Jose, CA. Mine has been modeified with a
camber spar jib and wheel steering. The jib is probably different in
size from the stock one, but next time I get out there, I’ll check
the dimensions.

Have fun…

-Greg
