The back stays attach to the front of the mast top to the hole in the front of the stainless mast cap. The the lazy jack lines attach to the bolt that goes through the main halyard sheave. The line on my back stay wire is 25 feet long and that is more than enough.

thanx for the info,
can you be a bit more clear about how the back stays attach to the front of mast top, this hole is also for my kite block. So do people use a larger shackle and run the back stays on each side of the block? or doe people use a pin, with extension?
cheers,

after as much research as I could find and hearing back from a few people, I’ve come up with my solution which is drill out the hole in the front of the mast head for the kite shackle and upgrade the shackle then put the pad eye for the back stay on the pin for the shackle, with a plastic washer. I have to say that I really think these cable rigging really needs to go as their are so many better solutions out their.
