F30 Rigging

Posted by kfffreemail (kfffreemail@…>)

Hi-
Recently acquired an F30 and am unsure about the jib boom
tophaul…is this the line on the starboard side of the mast, at about
the 2 o’clock position? It does not appear to have anyplace to fasten
the hoisting end to. Any assistance greatly appreciated!

On my F-30 I had a line hanging down as you suggest, which I tied off to the rear end of the camberpar, which keeps it from twisting while moored. If I wanted to lift the jib up by the backend, to work on the foredeck, fiddle with the anchor or mooring lines, I’d simply hook either the jib or spinnaker halyard to the rear of the camberspar and pull up, pivoting the sail and sailcover up and forward.

I think you are referring to what the Freedom Manual calls a “Jib boom
toping lift, Low Stretch Dacron Braid, 5/16” – White 28’." It should be
attached to the end of the boom to keep it off the deck when the sail
is dropped.
