We sailed our F32 for the first time Saturday. Had a great time!
I noticed the jib boom scraped the mast when it came across on
tacks. After looking at the mast more closely it seems this isn’t
the first time it has happened.
My thought is to lace a piece of leather to the mast (mast corset?);
however, there may be a more nautically correct fix that you guys
can give me. The jib boom currently attaches to the the jib stay
with a swiveling snap shackle.
Thanks!

It looks like somebody jury-rigged a replacement for the original attachment hardware. On our F32 it has a sheave and bracket that rides on the forestay. The boom clears the mast easily. I’d suggest that your friend get the correct hardware for his jib-boom. There is a mail thread on that very issue since more than one of us has lost various parts of this assembly overboard when rigging the jib.
