Hello,

I’m interested on your sails. What configuration of the F35 CK are they for ? wishbone or single boom, tracked or wrap around?

Regards,

Carsten

Hi Carsten , im Andreas , its my first boat and i cant sail , im a mechanic , i fix boats so know nothing about sails , boat has a whishbone set up tracked or wrap around ill have to ask someone , we have torrential rain here now for a month so at the mo i have no chance to get the sails out of the dry storage and lay them out somewhere to take pictures , ill keep you posted , my phone number is 00030 6940 368 928 Andreas

Hello Andreas, I also have wishbone booms, so that’s a good sign. Wrap around sails will be twice the size of the sail area, though some of them may have a zippered sleeve. The easiest way to tell if they are tracked is to look at the mast. If you have a channel or grove reaching up the mast the sails will have a thick bead or small “cars” on the forward edge to slide in the track and travel up the mast. Eventually I am planning to convert to Junk rig but depending on what you want for the sails and the cost of shipping this could delay those plans by several years. I am in the USA I purchased a Hoyt F35 CK a couple years ago and have been working on it in preparation for my retirement. My personal email is carsten.ahrens0@gmail.com , which may be easier for correspondence .

Hi Andreas. Congratulations on your purchase and your courage: for a non sailor as you yourself stated it takes some brass as they say to get into a double masted unstayed rig boat. Those are not your usual scoops with steel wires holding everything up! I have a Freedom 45 center cockpit and have been thinking about bringing it to the Med( currently in the Caribbean) and I was wondering, in your opinion is there market for boats with free standing rigs in Europe, if i ever wanted to sell it? I can tell you there is practically no market for those in the Caribbean: you’d have to bring it to the States to have a chance of a decent sale.

Hi , i think you have a good chance of selling your boat in europe a friend is a marine surveyor and he reckons that those type of boats are good sellers so europe seems to be your market in general

The market for Freedom 45s in Europe is much the same as the US. The European market is split between northern Europe and the Mediterranean. You need to consider the specs of your 45. They were all built in Rhode Island so primarily suited to the US and Caribbean market. Consider how to plug in when in marinas. I have a 35 currently and am considering upgrading to a 45. Check out other 45s for sale. Last I looked there were at least 7 or 8 on the market. How much do you expect to sell for?
