F36 Shaft length?

Posted by johncparent (johncparent@…>)

Finally getting around to replacing shaft - Anyone have a spare shaft
they can measure for me? Mark Edwards found old paperwork stating 56"
LOA with 1/4" key and standard taper, but I shouldn’t trust it.
Looking for confirmation.

Also, anyone know the Cutlass Bearing dimensions? M.E. only gave me
bronze with 1" I.D. I need O.D. and length. Thanks again to Mark!

Good Day,

The safest wat to replace the shaft is to take out the old one and give
it to the machine shop … along with the flange to the transmission.
This way the fitting burden is on the shop … if you give them
measurements, the burden is on you.

If you go the measurement route … be sure to measure the distance
from the end of the shaft to the center of the dimples for the se
screws in the flange … also the angles between the keyway and the set
screw dimples(usually 90 degrees, but you never know)

good luck

Paul
