Hi all, it’s been a while.
Finally got Fyne Spirit back to NZ in a direct single handed passage from Singapore, via Indian and Southern Oceans, about 6200 miles in all. In the process the gooseneck fitting on the fore sail boom was damaged. Where the flange fits into the boom, the casting broke away around the fastening on the top corner, and broke horizontally also, so it came out in three pieces. The welder tells me the casting is not repairable so I am wondering who the manufacturer might have been and if a replacement casting that will fit the boom extrusion would be available. Fyne Spirit came from Western Yachts annd was finished in Falmouth U.K. Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike.
What does the casting look like? If your boom is an Isomat, they have them at RigRite. I replaced one of the aluminum end caps on my boom a few years ago with a new one from them. However, mine is a US-built boat, and maybe they used different components when building in the UK.

Here’s a picture of the casting I replaced:

Hi Josh,
Thanks for that info. The mast end with vertical pin looks identical. The boom extrusion end would appear to be different in that the vertical dimension of the boom may be greater. I will see if I can get more info. Certainly looks like the right brand. Perhaps the boom came with the TP mast.
Cheers,
Mike.

Found the needed part at Eurospars in Plymouth U.K. Adrian knew all about it.
Nice! Hopefully postage wasn’t too bad.
