Could anyone suggest how many of this model where made? Just a
curiosity really. Niki and I are looking at buying one soon and
everything f39 is exciting and new.
Thanks

I have hull #44 which is shared between the PH and Express. Mine is the Express model [1985] and supposedly was one of only 9 Express built. I don’t have any info as to the total count.----- Original Message -----From: BRAD DESTACHE Date: Tuesday, June 3, 2008 10:06 pmSubject: [FreedomOwnersGroup] F39 Pilothouse SchoonerTo: FreedomOwnersGroup@yahoogroups.com> Could anyone suggest how many of this model where made? I own Ketch 22, hull # 22, a Freedom Express. Currently in Barillas
El Salvador, maybe in Florida early next year. Not sure how many were
built, but it had to be somewhere around 50. I don’t think there were
any built after 1985.

Thanks for the input. I don’t dare disclose the hull number of the
boat we are about to make an offer on, bad luck. Anyway we are
crossing our fingers.
Again thanks,

I have a Pilothouse and I beleive it was one of the last ones built in 1985. The later ones have portholes instead of the large plexi window along the side of the cabin. This helps with airflow, etc. Mine has the inside steering, but the captains chair was replaced with a bigger nav table which we sit on while using the inside station to steer. I do not know how many were built, my guess @ 35. When we went to the Freedom rendevous at Block Island we were the scratch boat vs. 40 ketches, etc. Dave told me the 39 Pilot house was faster than the express and the original 40’s but they weren’t sure why. In light air at block we did finish 1st overall and net. If you are serious about buying, I might consider selling and would certainly invite you to LI, NY to sail and check her out. Out life has recently changed with different jobs, children spread around the globe so my future cruising days may be limited. I love the boat, would recommend it to any one and look forward to conversing more, if you wish to sail, get experience, or just need info.

That is fantastic, Niki and I were able to find another owner localy
here in San Diego. They invited us on board for a full tour and cold
beer. The more we get to know the boat and people’s experiences with
them the more anxious we get for closure on the deal we are working
on. Our offer went in on Friday so now the game begins. If it all
falls through we would like to hear what your looking to get for yours.
Best of times to come,
Brad and Niki

The PH 39 is a wonderful boat - I’ve owned fiberglass, steel and wood
over the past 30 years and the 39 is the best by far - Being able to sit
on the dinette and see the anhorage alone is worth the price! Need to be
careful of water intrusion in the balsa core. On my 1984 39 lots has
been done - rebuilt Yanmar, new windows, all new plumbing, new fuel
tanks, refinished brightwork below, restepped and reinforced the masts
to prevent movement at the base… boat looks like new and if you
noticed, many new boats are going to the salon window idea - Back to the
Future!

The keel of mine, #47, was laid in Nov '84 and the boat was finished out in May '85. I believe more were sold after that, but I don’t know how many.— On Tue, 6/3/08, BRAD DESTACHE <brad@…> wrote:From: BRAD DESTACHE <brad@…>Subject: [FreedomOwnersGroup] F39 Pilothouse SchoonerTo: FreedomOwnersGroup@yahoogroups.comDate: Tuesday, June 3, 2008, 10:06 PM
