Reluctantly I’ve decided to sell my Freedom 40 as she’s not getting the use, or care & attention from me, that she deserves.
She was launched in 1985 after my father bought an empty aft-cockpit hull from Freedom UK and fitted out everything else himself (as you can see from the photos, he was quite a skilled woodworker - and there are loads of clever design features that you can’t immediately see). The family spent a few happy decades sailing around the UK and northern Europe, but as my father’s health deteriorated, he moved to Cornwall and the boat became rarely used.
In the last 9 years since his passing, I’ve replaced the engine (50hp Beta), checked & repaired the masts (carbon fibre), rewired the electrics (now tinned), etc etc… but I’ve not got much actual sailing in. There are still some jobs to do to make her fully live-aboard, and I live too far away to be able to do them easily, so am looking to pass her on to someone who will be more able to make the most of her.
I attach a couple of photos here, but there are loads more, and all the technical info you may need and video of the engine cold-start, on the Boatshed listing here:

Happy to answer any questions anyone may have.
And do spread the word, pass on this link to any friends you know who may be interested in a lovely Freedom - she needs a little TLC, but will reward a new owner with many years of comfortable sailing.
Thanks,
Giles
