I have a hard time raising the main the last couple of
feet. I have to manually pull out the two reefing
lines
at the end of the boom before I can raise the main
fully.
The rope clutches are not engaged and the line is
running freely. This is a real problem when I sail
alone and
very taxing. Any thoughts???
Also someone responded about the motor question that
had raced two(2) f21 and now sails a f25 but I deleted
his response. I would like to converse racing the
f21…
Thanks…

I had a similar problem on my 32. The track and each of the slugs ran
fine on their own. Several experienced folks looked at it while I was
on the dock rigging out. Finaly someone at North Sails suggested it
had to do with ‘offset’. Apparently I hadn’t been very carefull when
we hanked on the main and the distance between the track and the sail
itself varied considerably. On my boat, the slugs can be dialed in and
out on threaded rods. This set up some stresses that really made the
last few feet go up very hard. I’ve tinkered with it and sure enough,
it goes up a lot easier although I still have to be dead on into the
wind. May not apply to your boat, but…
