That’s a pretty small boat for a diesel inboard. I’d opt for an
outboard version. No drag from the prop, easy to maintain, more space
below, and no contortions needed trying to reach a stufffing box or
other hard to reach area. You can install cockpit controls for an
outboard and most have an electric start. Most of the single cylinder
diesels are rattletraps and if it’s raw water cooled and it’s been
there a while you’ll probably have issues.
You’ll probably spend less money on th eboat if you uy an outboard
model. And if you’re the unlucky owner when the diesel dies you can
spend almost as much as you paid for the boat replacing it. And
afterwards it’s still worth the ame amount of money.

Interested in purchasing a Freedom 25 with inboard diesel engine and

I’m considering purchasing a pocket cruiser, and the Freedom 25 seems
to be a great option. I’d like to take a look at one in the water or
on the dry, to get some idea of the space and the layout. Sailing on
one would be great, but not likely this late in the season. I’m
currently working in NE Ohio, and I spend a lot of time in lower
Michigan, so any offers in the lower Great Lakes would be
appreciated!

My Freedom 25, “Cheshire Cat”, is stored in St. Clair Shores,MI.
I don’t have her covered yet for the winter, so a ladder will allow a
look inside.
