Freedom 27

Posted by leighjotom (talexand@…>)

I have now uploaded the brochure info on the Freedom 27 to the photo
section. This comes from a full line small Freedom pamphlet. It does
not have a date, but includes the Freedom 27, 30, 36 and 44. My guess
is that it is a 1986 brochre, as I know the boat was released in 1987
as the 28. The picture accompanying the description and interior
drawing is actually that of a Freedom 30. In the brochure one can tell
that the pictures of the 30 and “27” are of the same boat taken on the
same day. Ah, marketing!

Now if we could only find the missing Freedom 24. In the October, 1994 issue of Sailing magazine, Bob Perry reviewed “Bill Tripp’s new design for Freedom Yachts,” a “snappy” boat that has the rig associated with Freedoms of the 1980s and on, but also has a drop keel with a bulb that gives it draft that varies from 1’10" to 6’. Was this ever built?

Many thanks for sharing this, Jim. A pretty pricey 24’ boat, isn’t she? I particularly liked the “keel wench.”
