Freedom 30 or larger wanted to buy

Hello all:

This is Ann, a would-be Freedomite. We are new to Freedoms and this group. I lived aboard decades ago aboard a lovely old wooden, 42-on-deck ketch (not counting that 5 foot bowsprit, except for it sure counted for interesting sail dousing in rough weather), for five years and raised a baby on her while sailing around the BC coast.
My partner, Harvey, has chartered cats in the past and we own a 22 foot very elderly Catalina that we drag about (Harvey chipped the ice out of its cockpit and took it Baja by road a couple of winters ago so we could get away from the farm for 10 days).
We would like to buy a Freedom this early fall and ship her, or sail if it is reasonable, south and spend some time each winter away from the western Canadian mud-then-snow and raising and training mules and horses and feeding and stall cleaning and pen cleaning and barn cleaning and fence mending and, and, and….
We would like to buy a 30 or 32 foot Freedom, would really like something a bit larger but doubt we can afford it. We live in a tiny house of 704 sq. feet so are used to living simply.
Harvey had built houses for 35 years so can do some work on a project boat but we would prefer not to have too much to do: no ripping out everything to the hull and working for years before leaving, we want to sail!
Please let us know what boats you have for sale, or know of for sale: in the US or in eastern Mexico or Central America. We have looked over the big sites such as Yacht World, Sailboat Listings, etc.
Thanks for keeping an eye out for us.

There is a Freedom 36 just listed on Seattle Craig’s List this morning.

Thanks for that, I will look at it.

Amante,

I have a 1987 Freedom 30 that is up for sale. It is a fresh water boat that is located in Racine, Wisconsin. I bought it 6 years ago from the original owner in Michigan. My asking price is $33.9k. If you are interested, please contact me at Rexe@att.net and I’ll send you a full description and photos.

Regards
Rex

A ~ I imagine you saw the F30 on Sailboatlistings.com It is up in your area too.

I have a very well maintained Freedom 35. 1999. It has a new Windlass, raw water wash down, new sheets and halyards, new dodger and bimini with full enclosure, new sails (fully battened main and roller furling jib)and modified lazy jack system. New auto helm and wind speed indicator and refurbished Chartplotter (Electronics by Raytheon),depth indicator, new VHF.Remote cockpit light to find your way back to the boat at night. Outboard lifting davit with bracket. Seafrost refrigeration, new cockpit cushions, electric winch, Airconditioning/heat from shore power. Vacu flush head with holding tank and macerator for overboard discharge.Head has separate shower compartment. 27 HP Yanmar diesel engine, new invertor. This is a well equipped boat for cruising and has sailed the New England coast since 1999. I am the second owner. I spend my summers sailing the Maine coast but am now spending more time on the West coast of Florida since my retirement. This is not an ideal sailing area due to its shallow waters and I will probably, reluctantly have to take up power boating and fishing.
This is a boat that truly needs nothing done to it unless you wanted to add a genet.
This may be more than you are looking for and I am asking $128,000

Hi Ann,
Freedom 40 aft cockpit. How does that grab you? We have just decided to move ashore, so the reality is we have to sell her.
Let me know if you might be interested. Currently lying, well found, on the Cote d’Azur, France. John

Hi Ann,
Please check out our 28 Freedom listed today on this site which will may satisfy your 30-footer needs. We wouldn’t give her up except for health reasons. She’s a beauty!

A real beauty, Morning Mist is a classic Freedom 28 sailing vessel, sloop rigged, capable of serious cruising. She has a fin keel, an 18 hp Yanmar diesel inboard engine and an unstayed carbon fiber mast. Easy sailing features include an Edson wheel steering, lazy jacks and self-tending jib. The arrangement of the cockpit provides good visibility, full length seating, all-around cushions and a generous deep locker. A new navy blue bimini (2011) and dodger add comfort and protection. Below decks there’s 6 ft. headroom, a full-sized galley, navigation station, large fold-down dining table and stand-up head with shower. Sleeping accommodations include a private V-berth, double settees and a quarter berth. Morning Mist’s excellent condition is evident in her new mainsail and jib sail (2012), new halyards and sheets (2012), upgraded head hoses (2011) and refinished bright work. With dimensions like an LOA of 28’ 6” and a beam of 10’ 3”, she looks more like a 30-footer. Morning Mist is turnkey and ready to leave her slip in Rhode Island now. Take a look. Health forces the skippers to sell.

Dear Ann,
We own a Freedom 32 (Hoyt) for 5 years and have entertained the thought of a upgrading to a slightly larger boat. The boat is now in winter storage in CT and have been sailing her in the Long Island Sound. If you are interested, please contact me at Rengarch@optonline.net.
