I broke out my Freedom 30 manual to lookup the jibsheet lenght and
noticed a few specs that are different than I was told about the
boat. My boat has a tank tender and the card that explains what
readings on the gauge coorespond to what tank levels have the
following tank capacities: water 35, fuel 15 and waste 12. The
manual saws water 50, fuel and waste 20. My boat is a 1987 vintage.
Did Freedom change the amounts after the manual was printed or is my
tank tender card wrong?
Also I was told the draft is 5’2" and the mast height 48’. The manual
has 4’6" and 44’. Which is right?
My manual has the same specs as yours for the tanks and I have no data to prove or disprove those numbers.
As to draft, Freedom made what they called a shoal (4’6") draft and a deep (5’6") draft. When I was shopping for my F30, I measured the draft of three shoal keel boats on the hard, and each came to about 5’. Others have reported the same thing.
As to mast height, the 44’ listed in the manual is incorrect. On October 26, 1987, Mark Edwards, then of Freedom customer service sent out a notice stating that the correct mast height above water is 47’6" (antennas not included), not 44’ as listed in the manual. (I wonder how they discovered this? A warrantee claim, perhaps?)

Many F-30s had their alum fuel tank
replaced. Mine was. The new one is 17 gal., not 20. There is a mechanical gauge
that needs to be calibrated (the tank is V shaped). Full=17 gal; ¾ =10; 1/2 =-4
gal and ¼ is almost dry!.. It was a good piece of preventative maintenance to
drain the tank and clean out all the gunk before adding measured amounts of
fuel and noting the gauge reading…Andy Weeks Windfall

Printed specs don’t always mean much. Tanks can be changed. During
production runs alternate vendors are occasionally utilized. Your
manual is for a shoal draft F-30. If you don’t have a shoal draft
model then the draft measurement is incorrect.
Best thing to do it measure for yourself. Tank capacity can be
determined by measuring. Ditto for mast height.
