Freedom 33 Edson steering pedestal diagram

,

I recently bought a Freedom 33 and wanted to do a service on the steering. I was able to take some of the free play out of the cables, but was also looking at replacing some of the wear parts so I got in touch with Edson, and they shared this steering diagram with me.

Excellent, as long as the bronze quadrant is in good shape, you’re in good shape. Although, if you needed a new quadrant, the forgery can make you one. Edson has parts for all the rest, I know because I’ve completely rebuilt the same steering system on hull #38 including the quadrant; —also centerboard pivot. At the time, they were offering dynema instead of the cable, which they do not do anymore. I used dynema that I had, it was a little difficult splicing and getting the lengths correct, but it made for very smooth steering. All the best to you! Standing by.
