Freedom 35 mast rotation

Posted by valkyrie_1996 (valkyrie_1996@…>)

I recently purchased a Freedom 35 and I noticed on the delivery home
that the mast has rotated about 20 degrees from true. From the owners
manual, there is a bolt that passes through the bast base and seems to
line up with a slot in the mast step. At this point the step looks to
be again about 20 degrees out of alighnment with the bolt. Is there
lots of slop in the slot in the step (that’s quite a toung twister)?
Also, what is the best way to get it lined up again? Thanks.

Art;On my F35 there is a large bold that passes through the mast and rests in a deep grove cut in the mast step. It has a section of rubber hose around it making it a snug fit in the mast step. You may be missing the rubber hose which would allow the mast to rotate. Twenty degrees is a lot of twist to have in the mast. You may have to have the mast pulled to fix it. When you have them put the mast back in make sure you put a bead of caulk around the base. This will give you tight fit between the mast and the mast step and prevent the mast from moving back and forth and grinding down the bottom of the mast.Best of luckMark On Mar 27, 2006, at 10:11 PM, valkyrie_1996 wrote: I recently purchased a Freedom 35 and I noticed on the delivery home that the mast has rotated about 20 degrees from true.
