Anyone have an idea of what a full set of canvas for a Freedom 39
express should cost. Dodger, Bimini, side and aft curtains. I have a
quote and just wondering if its in the ballpark?

If you already have a dodger frame you will save some money. Here on the West Coast you can expect to pay anywhere between 3 to 5 thousand dollars. It just depends on the company you use. I had my dodger, bimini and sail covers replaced two years ago on my F40 CK and that came close to 3 grand. I have not had the side curtains for the cockpit enclosure added yet. The work was done by the Canvas Factory in Antioch, Ca.

Just replaced the bimini and dodger canvass only for my F25 here in SoFla. " good " price was 1300. $ Replacement of Stack Pack canvas by Doyle, estimate is 1500 $. Add 150 $ to 200 $ per stainless bow if required. Andre " Scaramanga "jimrivers44 <jimrivers@…> wrote: Anyone have an idea of what a full set of canvas for a Freedom 39 express should cost. Thanks Jay. Last year I had a dodger installed with a new frame for
around $1300. I now am going to add a bimini (new SS frame. Side and
aft curtains with screens and a connector between dodger and bimini. So
that now the cockpit will be compleatly enclosed. I am getting a quote
of around $5000. I just wanted to know if this was in the ball park.
This boat is stored in a very remote area of nothern MI. So I do not
have a lot of places to get a quote from.

I’m also getting quotes for a new dodger, bimini and connectors for my
F39 pilothouse schooner with the same rough estimates: $1,500 and
$1,200 plus new stackpack cover replacements of $1,300 for the main and
$1,000 for the foresail - Real problem, even here near sailing capital
of Annapolis, is getting the estimates and some sense of timeframe from
them. Everyone seems so overbooked, even this winter, that I’ll be
lucky to have it done by this coming fall!

I beleave I paid about $1500 for a new dodger two years ago on
Long Island. Haarstick made new convential sail covers which I think
ran about $300 apiece. The dodger was made by a local shop [now
moved to the Finger Lakes]. The canvas maker was not interested in
my old dodger for a template as he said they shrink and distort over
time. Instead he came to the boat, raised the bows and made a plastic
sheet template to work from. perfect fit.
