Hi,
I have a question about the opening stainless ports on the Freedom 45.
It appears that, since they open inward, ventilation might be a
problem in the rain. Does anyone know what ports Freedom used in the
45, and if there’s a hood or something available for them? Or did I
just notice something on a particularly bad night that is normally not
a problem?
Thanks,
Lance

West Marine sells universal transparent plastic hoods to mount over
the outside of opening portlights. I don’t think these things come
standard.

Hi Lance,
when I bought Ladyhawk back in 02, I talked with Mark Edwards about
the Portlights. He told me that the early TPI boats had aluminum
portsthat were supplied by Atkins Hoyle of Canada. In '91 or so, TPI
sold the company to Freedom Yachts. Freedom chose a company in
Tampa,FL and they had the ports and the waterheater made in China. I
spoke with them in '02, and they indicated that they were interested
only in orders placed by oems. I eventually ordered from New Found
Metals, also made in China. I hope this helps.
