Freedom archives cleaned and on-line

Posted by pauldereus (pdereus@…>)

I have most of the messages in the messageboards from the period
februari 1999 till september 2003 available on

http://www.objectarchitects.nl/freedomboard/index.jsp

Thanks to the efforts Jim Georgas most of the spamn has also gone.

Note that the archives are read-only, so you cannot post messages to
them: they are for reference only. They have a searchable index, so
you can unlock this valuable source of Freedom information easily.

The board is not finished yet (it’s still in its infancy to be honest
;=), so availability/stability is not guaranteed but I’ll do my best.
Suggestions for improvement are welcomed at the ‘This Board’ forum:

Three cheers!!! As someone who will become the owner of a Freedom 30 as soon as a survey and sea trial are successfully completed, this is invaluable. I have been frustrated by the limited information on Freedoms available on the web, and this site fills a huge gap. (When I bought my last boat, a Sabre, I was able to locate on-line owners manuals, private websites with detailed instructions for improvements, original sales brochures, etc.) This will no doubt spare the rest of you from countless (but not all) inane questions from me once I take possession of the boat. But I do have one question now: why are there two Freedom email lists, this one and the one at Sailnet? Hardly seems necessary.

Ditto.

I too am in a similar situation having agreed an offer pending
survey, on a Freedom 25.

My questions on heavy weather sailing have been answered via the
generosity of this forum.

But I have found a lot of answers to which I did not even know that I
had questions by a first trawl of the Freedom archives. There is
masses of it!

I’ve printed out a load of stuff that I will be discussing with the
surveyor.

I will leave you all in peace, for the time being at least.

Many thanks to all and particularly to Pauldereus for his hard work.

Richard Gooderick

This link no longer seems to work. Are you still around so we can
access the archives? Some of the archives are available if you have
the individual links others don’t seem to be.
Thanks
Alan
