There seems to be a lot of Freedoms on
the CB. Is there any annual events to get together? As a new owner of a F30
Nitro (I need to change this name, everyone ask me “and it’s a sailboat?”)
it would be fun to see some of the other boats.

I would be glad to sail up from Florida.
It would give me a good excuse.

The first year I owned Bright Star, I received a packet from the
previous owners about a Freedom rendezvous in Newport, RI. The cost was
high, but they were expecting an awfully big turnout. Unfortunately for
me, the timing wasn’t very good, and I was cash poor, if boat rich. I
figured I’d do it in 2005.
Unfortunately, if there was a Freedom rendezvous in 2005, I never heard
about it. It’s too bad, too, but I think that since the previous events
were organized by the company, and their emphasis is now on powerboats,
having all us satisfied sailors showing up and asking “when are you
gonna build real boats again?” would have been an embarrassment.
In any case, if my vacation time weren’t an issue, then the ‘next best
thing’ would have been to do the Good Old Boat rendezvous in Annapolis.
That might still be fun, now that our cruising range is a bit longer,
although I don’t know if 1991 is old enough for a Good Old Boat yet…
