Frredom 33 ck interior finish

Anybody know what was used for a finish on the interior plywood paneling of a 33CK

Hi
I wouldn’t be surprised if it were two-component polyurethane varnish, the only type that can really last a long time.

I was hoping to hear, water based varnish.

It is my understanding that water-based varnishes were not yet available in the early 1980s.
However, there is no reason why you cannot apply the varnish with this type of product.
However, if cost is not a concern, I would suggest two-component polyurethane. Its longevity makes it a worthwhile investment.

I’m a house painter by trade; I use Minwax indoor / outdoor Helmsman spar urethane - clear satin finish on all the interior wood. It can last decades inside a home, and nicely blends with the old finish. Other manufactures have similar products.

Acrylic finishes protect the wood, but don’t blend well with the original finish.

I don’t use this product outdoors because high gloss Sikkens Cetol Marine lasts longer in salt spray and direct sun.

My boat was finished with tung oil
Easy to apply but does take longer to dry and needs rubbing down between coats
