Fw: interior wood

Posted by Melissa (kalicinm@…>)

Hi! Mark Edwards gave me the following suggestions to try and match the interior wood in my freedom. I haven’t tried it yet, but I have a reddish teak interior and I’m hoping that this stuff is a good match.

Hi Melissa,
Unfortunately it will be hard to say for sure because so much time has elapsed and because of differences from boat to boat. However, if you have both flat and gloss accents and if you are relatively certain that the interior wood surfaces are not simply oiled with a teak oil, then I am pretty certain your finishes would be Interlux # 60 Satin Rubbed Effect Varnish and Interlux # 90 gloss varnish. If you are starting to finish new wood, then two coats of Interlux Sanding Sealer to fill the grain before you begin to apply the desired varnish.

Bear in mind that any work you do will result in a discoloration, at least for a time, but this will blend over time.
Good luck and have a great boating season.
Best regards,
Mark

Hi Mark,
I have a quick question for you…do you know what I would use to refinish some waterdamaged wood inside my F38? What would best match the flat finished vaneer on the bulkheads and the more glossy teak trims? Everytime I ask someone I get a different answer…polyurathane, varnish, something I’ve never heard of???
Hope all is well!

Thanks, but mine is just an oiled finish,
no varnish.
