Subject: Virus Alert
Hi - I have just been informed that a virus has been passed onto me and it is automatically passed through e-mail address books. Since you are in my address book, you will probably find it on your computer too. The virus is calledjdbe.exe and is not detected by Norton or McAfee anti-virus systems. The virussits quietly for 14 days before damaging the system. It is sent automatically by"messenger" to all entries in your address book, even if you have not sent anyemail to your contacts.I was notified today, and I found the virus on my system.These instructions were sent to me. I followed them, found the virus and deletedit from my computer. Here is how to check for the virus and how to get rid of it.PLEASE DO THIS ASAP.1. Go to START - then click on “find” or search option.2. In the folder option, type the name “jdbgm”.3. Be sure to search your C drive and all the other drives you may have.4. Click “find now”.5. The virus has a TEDDY BEAR icon with the name jdbgmgr.exe. DO NOT OPEN IT.6. Select the file – highlight the file without opening it.7. Delete the file. It will be sent to the recycling bin.8. Right click the recycle bin and click on EMPTY recycle bin in order to completely dump it out of your computer.9. If you know how, as an extra cleansing step, you may want to run a disk cleaning and/or defrag.If you find the virus, you must contact all the people in your address book.I did – This is such a pain - and as the person who sent this to us says"totally disgusting"!
