hey all,
my boyfriend and i own a freedom 45 and were trying to find out how
many 45’s were built (or if they are currently being built), how many
have been built? the funny thing is if you call the freedom folks
they charge you for this type of info because they have to go into the
archives. do any of you have a good resource that would tell us this
and other questions like when was the first 45 built, etc.
thanks

If you’re just looking for general information Mark Edwards from Freedom is
really helpful. He probably could get very close To the actual numbers off
the top of his head, without going into the archives.

There were 48
F45’s built. None have been built in the last 7 years. They will build you a new one and I
guess the base price will be close $500k
The 45s have
been well regarded by the owners and sailed extensively including
circumnavigations.
I believe the
first models were built in the mid 80’s.

Good information, Herck!
However at today’s prices you are looking at something closer to $650K for a new one if you could even talk them into building it at all. (bet the profit margin is much better on the Legacy)
They are good boats hang on to them!

I believe the first version of the 45 was in fact a 42. With the addition of the transom extension it became the 45. I believe the first 42 was delivered in '87.

Another source is Paul Dennis at Warren River Boatworks. Paul was
the
plant manager at Freedom, and I believe he was in charge of building
most if not all F45’s. His number is (401) 245-6949.
Beyond mere information, Paul is a phenomenal person to have work on
your boat. No one knows Freedoms better (dare I say, not even Mark
Edwards), considering that he built most of them. He knows the good,
the bad and the ugly, which helps considerably when it comes time to
fix or diagnose anything. Plus, he is a truly gifted craftsman. His
work is impeccable.
Good luck,
DG

No question,
Paul is our guru. I have always felt we
should all chip in for a retainer with him just to get good answers.

I’ll put this on the list for the owners association. Great idea.
