I’m considering replacing the fixed two blade prop on my Freedom 35
with a Gori two or three blade folding propeller. Does anyone have any
experience with the Gori props, good or bad?

I have no user experience, but I compared prices and found there are
many alternatives to the Gori for a more attractive price.

You might want to look at the KIWI prop…a three bladed feathering prop. By far the cheapest and has excellent drive power forward and backward. Have lived with one for a year, round trip from New England to Miami. Will fill you in if interested.FargoEx owner, F30 #12"michel.capel" <michel.capel@…> wrote: I have no user experience, but I compared prices and found there are many alternatives to the Gori for a more attractive price. michel — In freedomyachts2003@yahoogroups.com, “valkyrie_1996” <akuehne@…> wrote: > > I’m considering replacing the fixed two blade prop on my Freedom 35 > with a Gori two or three blade folding propeller. Fargo:
I’d be interested in whatever knowledge you could share about the Kiwi prop. I’ve read good reviews about it, and the price is, as you note, far and away the best.
Many thanks.

I bought a two blade Gori folding propeller last summer, faute de mieux, when I
lost a
blade ffrom the (?) Volvo one I had, in Arendal, Norway. It is a beautiful
looking device, but
long compared with its predecessor, and I had to hack a piece out of the rudder
to make it
fit. Unfortunately, it was 15" dia x 12" pitch, when I needed 16x11, so
performance
estimates are unfair. Its worst feature, however, was poor opening and low
thrust in
reverse. It is now for sale! The original fixed two blade works well, and I’ve
glued the piece
back into the rudder, so all is well in the world!

I recently mounted a J-Prop bronze feathering prop with easily
adjustable pitch. It’s a development of the Maxprop principles, with
more userferiendliness and a bet less expensive.
J-prop pitch can be adjusted in the water without tools;
J-prop is supplied and mounted in one piece, unlike the Maxprop you
don’t have to assemble all kinds of bits and pieces around the
shaft. You just push it on the shaft and you tighten two Allen nuts
with the supplied Allen wrenches.
I have no sailing or motoring experience yet with this prop.
