In process of purchasing a 40/40 it currently has engine driven
grunert refrigeration. How difficult and costly is it to add dockside
assist refrigeration?
Thanks,
John

Are you sure it is mechanically driven off the engine. My 39 express[1985] has a Grunert unit which is set up to run off the house current, but only when the engine is running. This is to prevent the unit from running the batteries down, say if it was to run overnight. My unit will also run if the shore power and battery charger are on.

Thanks for the reply.
Yes it runs off a belt to the engine. You set a timer to shut it off.

Hi,
we replaced our “Ne’erCold” with a Frigoboat aircooled unit. It’s only
DC, but it is very efficient. When we’re at the dock, we run the
charger anyway, and off the dock it draws about 3 amps for around 15
minutes every hour.
We got ours through Great Water in Brunswick Maine, and they are very
professional and can make good suggestions for new equipment.
