Do the larger Freedom boats use a fiberglass chute scoop like the F-25? My F-21
had a
retriever bag that lashed to the pullpit so no fiberglass scoop was needed. What
about the
F-29, 32, 36, etc.? How do the spinnaker socks work on them???
Thanks, Greg

I have a shotgun mount. The sail is stored in a nylon sleeve that fastens along the lifelines. The sail itself has an umbillical cord attached at the center and I simply pull on the cord which is led aft through the sleeve and as I lower the halyard I pull the sail back into the sleeve. My boat is a F36/38.
It really works pretty good!

I’m finishing up a total refit of an English built Hoyt designed 32,1985
vintage , and she’s on her way to the keys by truck right now. I got the boat
after a bank foreclosure left her on the hard for two years,so I had no way to
talk to the previous owner. I’ve replaced all of the running rigging with the
exception of the spinnaker system. I’ve located drawings of the placement of
the control lines, but the entire bag/chute,launch and retreive system is
missing, and I have not been able to locate any drawings or descriptions of the
system, nor find a supplier of replacement parts. Any info on this subject
would be appreciated. My wife and I are going move aboard her next week in Key
Largo, and its off to the Bahamas as soon as I can complete this work. Thanks

I have a Hoyt F32 equipped for exten ded voyaging. I race her single handed with flying sails. I have replaced the original chute handling system for a sock and find it more useable and all around better than the original system for two primary reasons: 1. More often than it should have, the last portion of the retrieval, slacking the two clew lines in preparation for the last “stuffing” of the clews into the bag, left the portions of the sail still out of the bag out of control and in the time it takes to move from the cockpit to the fore deck the sail came too close to going in the water. 2. The center take down line inteferred with the sail shape in light airs. It’s a great boat. I live aboard and have for 10 years. She is big enough and small enough. Enjoy.
