The old lewmar line jammers on my F30 aren’t reliable any more. Any recommendations for new clutches? I’m thinking Lewmar D1s or Spinlock XAS.
A few years ago I replaced the original line jammers on my port side on my F-33 with lewmar D-2 rope clutches and added a few more then I had. I’ve been happy with them but you have to choose the line size carefully as they don’t handle as wide a range as the spinlocks. This year I did the same on my starboard side. I was considering the spinlocks since I had great customer support from them on one of their vest/harnesses that I had a problem with.
However, the spinlock handles open with the handle forward while the lewmars open handle aft. This is important if you want to place them under a dodger near the front of the dodger which is a must on my vessel.
