I only got one. Maybe you are double enrolled at Yahoo? You should go to the yahoo group site and check out your membership.

Hope that helps.

I meant the composting toilet was cheaper and more environmentally friendly
than a system that requires hoses, clamps, pipes, valves, holding tanks,
macerators, chemicals and, eventually, pumpout somewhere.

Also better for the environment.

At 04:47 PM 4/30/2008, you wrote:

Sorry Bob, I should have been more specific. Any pounding,
shuddering, vibration, whether it comes from the rhythmic thrum of
the engine or a constant pounding into heavy seas could be a source
of joint failure, if you build the system with PVC joints. I suspect
that with careful attention to the joints, mounting points, etc, that
a PVC system could be workable, although repairs mean carrying yet
another pair of volatile chemicals on board.

to the
hull (?) inconjunction with the hose pieces to prevent vibrations
from doing
any great damage. I think its a workable solution at 1/3 of the
cost. It
cost me over $150 just in hose (@$8.xx/ft) to reinstall the system
in my F30
plus the $75 y value. And I would bet the PVC would outlast the
hose by two
fold. Only an opinion!

To add to the mystery, I sometimes get double posts from Steve, but not this latest time. heh heh Steve are you a member of the water tribe? Just curious. Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. Try it now.

George:

“Water Tribe?” I am an Aquarian, if that’s what you mean…

What I am is an environmentalist, by profession (a Park Naturalist/Archaeologist
with the Pinellas County, FL, Park Dept) and by inclination.

I am also the owner of a 41-year-old boat that has (not necessarily by choice)
no water tanks, water pumps, sinks, heads, and only three through-hulls (engine
raw water intake and two cockpit scupper drains). It’s a very basic boat. I
removed the head and glassed over the through-hulls. There is a porta-potty, but
I use disposable and compostable Wag Bags. The original water tank under the
v-berth broke and rotted out the bulkhead and cabin sole, which I rebuilt. One
of these days I will install a flexible water tank under the quarter berth and
maybe a pressure pump. I’d like a hot water heater, but since the boat has no
shower, that would be pointless.

Lemme know if you get two copies of this post again. Only got two complaints,
both from you guys. Maybe it’s something to do with my computer’s shaky
relationship with Yahoo.

Watertribe Here is a link to Watertribe Steve. You just seemed like a natural (as well as a naturalist). Actually I may have reported the double post but not complaining… not a big deal. Also your posts are only single in the messages online so probably something funky at my end anyway. And about being an archeologist and naturalist… you’re kind of my hero… Good on you. George

George:

Thanks for that link. I am not a dediciated kayaker, but have done it numerous
times, even led a few eco tour groups on the Fort De Soto Canoe/Kayak Trail.

I do have a Kittery Skiff that I built from a kit. Have to get it out on the
water and row it once in a while. But time, work, home, other boat and wife
(not necessarily in that order) take priority in my schedule.
