I just replaced my Y value and a few things are bothering me. When I
pump I get back pressure that bubbles back into the head. I also get
oder smell in the cockpit.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Mike,
were you getting any of these symptoms before you replaced the Y-
valve? Is it possible that your vent tube is clogged?
Otherwise, is it possible that you have the Y in the wrong position? I
was once (almost disastrously) quite wrong about the direction a Whale
pump handle was supposed to point, and the thru-hull wasn’t open,
and… well, we’ll leave it at that.
I’ve gotten back-bubbles into the head, but usually when going
overboard, up over the anti-siphon loop, and back down to the thru-
hull. Are all your hose clamps tight?

Replace the joker valve in the head, Check and tighten the clamps on ALL the plumbing.
