My number one suggestion would be an electrical upgrade! I am assuming you will
have
shore power available. You will want to add a shore power connector, a reliable
AC/DC
panel, battery charger, Hella Fans (if not some sort of Air Conditioning cause
it’s hot in FL),
etc.

Here’s a bunk idea: measure and cut a piece of 3/4" ply to fill the cabin beam
to beam
from behind the sink & Nav Table to the companionway. Then get some 4"
high-density
foam cut to match. That will give you more room than the V or the settees. If
the ply is
further “split” into 2 down its length the 2 pieces might be usable below the
settee
cushions in lieu of the ply that came with the Freedom 21 (Emmylou’s keep
falling through
to storage below - I need a fix for then similar to the “keeper” blocks on the
forward V-
berth ply.

The con is it’s small. Number 2 con would be it’s going to be very hot
on that small boat, especially in Florida. What are you going to do
about keeping cool? I’ve spent a couple of weekends on my boat and
it’s a lot like camping out. Keep us posted.

Hi Michael.

Three thoughts. First when cruising by myself I put down the section
of the V-Berth over the porti-potty and sleep across (athawrtships).
I am short and this may not work for you. Second is to make or buy a
boom tent so you can sleep in the cockpit. You would have to have a
cusion. It would also be helpful to have lifelines and pulpit for an
over hang. Third is to use one of the quarter berths.

I lived in a sailboat in the keys for years, first thing is air
conditioning, get a little frigidaire 6000 btus, 89 dollars and it’s very
efficient, it will make life liveable in the summers down here, otherwise
you’ll sweat to death on those nights there are no breezes and it’s 90
something degrees, screens and a fan will help, but may not stop the sand
fleas and a few mosquitos always come in to annoy you. The other benefit to
ac is you won’t have all the mildew from the humidity.
