Thank-you for the input.
The stepped mast was one of the reasons I did go for this F21. I
will have the opportunity to trailer it to destinations so it made
sense for me at this time. I do know aluminum does stretch over
time which could cause a loosening at the tabernackel, which is
causing yours to bang around. Where did you obtain your new mast?
Repairing the cut would not be possible, would it? For those that
have the same concern you had, a SS sleeve on the outside of the
mast will “stop” the stretching. The SS sleeve would need to match
the lengths of the inner aluminum sleeve.
I agreed with the answers also on battery placement and fuel lines,
but I believe I will be modifying the fuel line supply to go through
the stern, not into the cockpit and over the the stern rail. I’ll
submit some pictures as soon as it is done, it will be a pretty
slick set up. I can think of nothing more hazardous than a fuel
line flopping around in the cockpit. The last thing I need is
leaking gas not to mention the environmental impact. Some people
may say, “Whats a gallon or so of gas”, not me.
Sandy Hook sounds like a great idea. I’ll ditch the kids and we can
all look over at that “exclusive” beach they have. It’s going to
have to wait a year or so though. I’m going to be inland getting
the family familiar with a ballasted boat. Everything i have sailed
has been a centerboard boat.

thoughts of an accidental spark bothered me last summer. Plus boats
list due to the engine and battery weight caused some barnacles on
jell coat above water line. So one of the projects for next year is
putting it inside on stbd side.
As far as your mast, was the tabernacle installed by the owners or
factory ? I have a shoal draft and a factory installed mast step
which I unretrofitted last summer. Tabernacle was loose and banged
around when boat encountered waves. Didn’t look safe.
There are few more F21s in Raritan Bay and I am across the chanel
in Brooklyn.
May be one day we can have a gathering around Sandy Hook.

condition for her age. Her condition, that fact that she is

This is my first boat w/o a centerboard, as a matter of fact, it
is my
first ballested boat, does this mean I’m getting old? Actually, it
seemed the perfect fit for the whole family to enjoy.
I hope to gather some good info here as well as offer some of my

tid-bits where I can.
