Hi,
I’m struggling with ideas on what do do about a top for our Freedom 40
CC. It would help immensely to have pictures/ideas from others who
have them. Right now I’m leaning towards a stainless steel framed “t”
top arrangement. I just think that with the beam involved the hoop
frame type bimini top might not be sturdy enough. Kerri goes under
the knife for skin cancer early next month so this is my absolute
prime issue right now. We solve this or we find another activity.
Period dot.
Ideas? Even better… PICTURES please!
Thanks
George

George,
I can’t really help, I have never seen a picture of an F40CC with a
bimini. But I wonder why the standard bimini approach wouldn’t be
sturdy enough. I’ve seen 60 to 80 footers with huge wide aft cockpits
and a conventional bimini. Perhaps you should have a look at the
biminis on these larger boats, and take the size of fittings and tubes
they use.

Hey Michel,I found a “T” top frame locally for less than the cost of the materials would be. I’ll have to modify it but it’s a big leg up on the project. Photos and commentary here We can start out with a rag top laced on in the usual way and go to a hard top later if we desire. I have a feeling that within the next couple of years advances in solar power will have us looking for a good location for some solar power surface area. George

That T-top frame is quite a structure! It looks like the frame on the
RIBs of our lifeguards. And the navy use them also, only with a big
eye on top to lift the RIB clean out of the water with the deck crane.
