How to: make a shower sump

The shower in my F44 did not drain well, and when I stopped the pump, the contents of the whole nine yards of hose ran back onto the shower floor. I didn’t need an official expensive shower sump with float switch and built-in pump. So I made my own household sump from a foot of sewage pipe (4" diameter), two end caps, two 90* through hulls and a non-return valve. The 4"pipe stands upright in the bilge and collects the shower run-off. The pump takes the water from the bottom end of the sump and can now work without sucking air all the time. The non-return valve is right after the bottom through hull. Perhaps the valve wasn’t even necessary. It works great.
