In the interest of group harmony...

Posted by lance_ryley (lance_ryley@…>)

There are two discussions occurring in here lately and they are
equally divisive. The first has to do with whether freedomyachts2003
is the appropriate place for a discussion about an Owner’s
Association, or whether this group should be simply for the exchange
of technical information.

The other issue is whether there is a need for an Owner’s Association
at all. Personally, I think there is the potential for some
economic clout, as well as some other benefits, from an association,
but I recognize that this isn’t the right forum for that.

Realizing that I’m probably playing right into the hands of those who
consider supporters of an association effete, blazer-wearing, scotch
sipping snobs, I’ve created a group called “Freedom Owners Group” at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FreedomOwnersGroup/ for the express
purpose of discussing the relative merits of having an Owner’s
Association. I’ll keep the group open as long as there is meaningful
discussion to be had, and not one more peep out of me in this group
about the subject.

Lance,
I think that was a good idea of you, this new group. Perhaps it will
separate the men from the boys! By the way, I caught myself
yesterday wearing my red/tan trousers, a blue and white checkered
shirt and a blue double breasted blazer when I opened a fresh bottle
of Famous Grouse Scotch whisky… :^P

Regards,
michel

michel,
Thank you so much for the laugh, I about fell off my chair. I can’t tell by the spelling of your name and your outfit if you are man or a women (or both) but you might be right about “seperating the men from the boys”.
If you make it to Seattle, you might like to visit Capital Hill, known as the “Swish Alps” (that is if you are “a man or a boy”).
I don’t think I’ll need to be notified of any of the new “club” yachting adventures, as I’m sure I wouldn’t have the proper attire!
In fact, I might have bought the wrong brand of boat, as it looks as if I’m not of the proper pedigree.
Good luck with the new group, I think I’ll stick around here for a while since you “guys” are relocating. I would also like it to get back to tech info, repairs, etc…
Happy New Year

thomas,

Luckily my english is not good enough to read any irony in your
remarks. If you don’t mind I stick around here too, I’d rather
discuss smelly bilges, exploding holding tanks or leaking portholes
than club names or contribution fees.

Mike,

I apologize for the jab back, as it was in response for the comment about " seperate the men from the boys", which, I felt was a slam at anyone that didn’t want to form a new “club”.
I will ignore anymore comments, but don’t understand why those that want to form a new club, just do it, and quit “spamming” this board to join the new one.
I’m glad that, for the most part, it has returned to the previous format.
Cheers!
Tom

Tom,
Apparently we’re on the same side; my remark about men and boys was
irony to designate the clubbers. Just to make sure: i’m not one of
them, I’m doing fine without associations.
