A bird’s nest in my boom caused me to start this little project. I
pulled the boom off the mast. Pretty easy! I was happy! Then I noticed
that the outhaul had inadvertently been pulled into the boom, forward
by the gooseneck. I was able to reach in and pull it back out by hand.
So all seemed well. However, I noticed an empty block assembly inside
the forward end of the boom. I have seen diagrams of the internal
workings of the reefing system in the Isomat. My reefing systems appear
to be in order. But I have not seen any diagrams of the outhaul
configuration. Is the outhaul routed directly from the forward sheave
to the aft sheave? Is this the correct configuration? If so, what is
the purpose of the unused block? Thanks to all.

There was a 3:1 or 4:1 purchase on the outhaul that lived inside the boom. So my guess is that is what the extra block was for.

There is a diagram of the blocks inside the boom for the outhaul in the F32 manual. Probably there is in the other manuals also. I know that there are manuals in the achives. I still am not sure if a new outhaul line can be snaked through?
