james wharram soft wing

I own a freedom 40 that I have now had for 24 years. It has wrap
around sails that I have replaced once {expensive}. It is now time
for a new set.I have not gone the track and full batten route because
I like the clean leading edge and simplicity of the original
rig. That said it would be nice to have more sail aloft and a fuller
roach.Recently I saw a Tiki cat with a “soft wing sail”. The sail has
a substantial luff pocket with a zipper. The leech with partial
battens is supported by a gaff. The sail apears to set
beautifuly.Has anyone any thoughts on if two such sails might work on
my boat.

Tim,
A Freedom friend of ours who visits this board occasionally has a set
of sails like you describe on his F33. A mast sleeve with zipper and
velcro, fully battened, full roach. I’ll try and convince him to
share his experiences with us here.
reg.
Mike
