Well, I gone and done it - rigged my 40 as a junk. Only sailed in light conditions but very pleased so far. Still tweaking.
Nice, I was wondering if someone had junk rigged a Freedom!! It seems like a logical rig for these boats. Do you have any photos of you under sail from a distance?
Absolutely beautiful, I would love to read more about your conversion.
Inspiring. Have been thinking of selling my Freedom 25 as I haven’t been using her. This conversion might be worth considering and looking forward to following this discussion.
Looks great, and probably even easier to handle than the original. So few lines on deck, too! Hope you can get some pictures from another boat, and post them.
I did see a Freedom 35 (US F33) in Falmouth, Cornwall, which had junk rig sails, but it was only visible in a marina, so I don’t know how well it worked.
Keep us posted, please!
Gerald
Beautiful!
I own a Freedom 39 PH schooner, also junk rigged.
I’ll be glad to discuss! (location France)
