Kriter Lady II

Posted by lance_ryley (lance_ryley@…>)

I just posted a picture I found of Garry Hoyt’s “Kriter Lady II,” a
Freedom 65/70 three-masted schooner designed for single-handed racing.
Kinda cool.

Hey Lance,
First of all, where did you find this picture, and secondly,
when was this boat built? Is it still alive and well?
Thanks,
TW

Mark Edwards had mentioned that one or two of these 70’ers existed, and
I stumbled upon this picture on a french group at www.hisse-et-oh.com.
Unfortunately, my French is pretty rusty, so I have no earthly idea
what’s become of it/them. I hope it’s faired better than amazon/tin
can, but judging on how little information there is online, who knows?
I believe it must have been built around 1980, because Eric Sponberg
designed the masts in that year while he was at TPI.

Imagine Kriter Lady II with modern full battened sails and a big
roach…
