I have a 40 CC from 1979, number 16, which has a fibreglass (not heavy) dagger board. It drops down some 6’ on a pulley system driven by a winch forward the aft mast. My understanding is that most of the Freedom 40s have different variations.

There’s not really anything to see there. It’s basically a trunk that goes down to the floor with no access.
