Link to Freedom Owner’s Manual

Posted by rick_simonds (rick_simonds@…>)

Steve Medher has scanned the owner’s manual for the Freedom 32 and
has converted it into PDF format. He has graciously sent it along to
share with everyone.

First and most importantly: ATTABOY, STEVE! Thank you! This is
greatly appreciated. It is the spirit and generosity of fellow
Freedom owners like this is what makes this board so valuable and
owning a Freedom boat much more enjoyable. I am sorry to hear that
you sold your 32, Steve, but I wish you fair winds with whatever
comes next and the best of luck to you.

Everyone, this manual is great stuff. While it seems to (mostly) have
the diagrams and specifics for the early 1980’s Hoyt F32, there are
quite a few other models mentioned here and there, from the F25
through the F38 and others as well. I haven’t studied all of the
manual but it does have quite a bit of great info on hull
construction, the carbon mast construction, winterizing, pulling and
lifting the mast, the engine, basic sail hoisting and trimming and a
lot of other subjects. There is quite a bit on rigging the spinnaker.
THERE’S A BASIC WIRING DIAGRAM! (#$%&! Where has THIS been for 20
years?)

Also, like a good novel, there’s the occasional zinger plot twist
thrown in (“…the running backstay is needed to resist the tip
loading of the spinnaker…” Uhhh,…running backstay? What running
backstay!?)

This is a great read. There’s good stuff here, even if you don’t have
this exact Freedom model. There will be a few valuable tidbits in
here, or at least interesting reading, for virtually every owner.

I have posted the manual at:

http://us.share.geocities.com/rick_simonds/Freedom_Manual.pdf

Geocities is a free posting site, sorry about the advertising.
Because the site is free, there is a daily traffic limit for
downloading data and this is a large file (3.5-ish MB). When the
download limit is reached, the site just stops sending anything for a
while. If the site refuses to send it to you just try again later,
hopefully the download limit will have re-set by then. Keep trying.
It’s worth it.

It is in PDF format and you probably already have the plug-in for
your browser to read PDF files, but if you don’t, you can get it from:

http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

Go nuts. Download it all you want, post it anywhere else, just be
sure to SHARE IT WITH OTHER OWNERS!

And, Steve, again, thank you for the generosity of your time and
effort.

Rick, I tried to download the Freedom Owner’s manual and I couldn’t
access the link. Is there another one?

Sorry, I needed the space and took it off the site I had listed. You
can get it in the “Files” section of this site. (On the left hand
side of your screen RIGHT NOW look for “Files”. Click there. It’s
called “Freedom_Manual.PDF”)

Recently joined the new chat group With a Freedom 32. Always wanted
the manual but could not get it. I tried to download the manual from
the link in your message but no cigar. Could you post again or send
to me direct at gringstad@… or my Yahoo address
Guillemot32@… Wow this would be great. Thanks very much

It’s here at the website.

Look on the left of the screen. Click on “files.” Right click
on “Freedom_Manual.PDF” then left click on “Save Target As…” Pick
a spot on you computer to save it.

Be patient. It’s big.
