Looking to purchase a F40 (Pedrick design)

I’m starting my search for a F40. I’ve had 3 other freedoms in the past I see they have various sail configurations. In boom furling, stack pack, and standard lazy jack system (as in my other freedoms). For the headsail many have roller furling and some with the job boom. If anyone has an opinion on which systems are superior or is it just a matter of preference. If anyone knows of one for sale please reach out to thanks for the help

BlueJacket is worth a look.

Thanks. I was hoping to find one a bit closer to me. I’m in NJ

I had a 4040 with roller furling and cars on deck. Nice to have option of self tacking and larger head sails. The mainsail is very large and heavy. I thought BlueJacket sold? There was a 4040 that sold last year for 45K, same boat now on the market for 119K without many upgrades.

which one sold for 45? That’s very cheap. was it a problem child?

Full Monty is for sale - check Yachtworld for details. She’s loaded and ready for heading south. She’s currently on Lake Ontario, on the hard, near St. Catharines. She has in boom furling and a Hoyt jib (and power winch) so you can single hand her and tacking is a breeze. Let me know if you want more information or the broker’s contact information.

I saw that one. Looks nice. I need to arrange a trip north to visit and also estimate transportation expenses.

you can call me at (416) 809-0579 and I can tell you about our experience moving her from Florida to Toronto to The Bahamas and then back to Lake Ontario.

The boat that sold for 45k was located in Riverside RI, sold last year fall. Now on the market for 119k in CT.

This boat was one of 2 built with the deep keel. My previous 4040 was the other one with the deep keel called Star Dancer. I did a survey on the 45k boat many years ago where they found water intrusion in the hull. I then bought Star Dancer with a clean survey. I asked the broker about water intrusion I found in my previous survey. He wasn’t sure if any work was performed to address the problem.

Two 4040 recently sold Blue Moon and North Star which was a donated boat currently on lease located in Mass probably sold very cheap.

Since the hulls are cored very important to check for water intrusion.

Good luck in your search.

Yes Ivd had 3 other Freedoms. balsa core can be an issue for sure. I can live with a deep keel although id prefer a shallow draft. Thanks for the info on the Ct boat. the repair for water intrusion can be extremely expensive.

Theres 2 40/40’s for sale in RI on Facebook marketplace. One is named Spruce in east greenwich. The other one is in jamestown but i cant remember the name.
Good luck on your search.

Dunno anything about a 45K boat but according to our surveyor, that’s about what North Star was worth, even with a new main.

We are the new and absolutely delighted owners of Blue Moon. She has the factory headsail but is also rigged for a Genoa. Considering a roller furler but have read mixed reviews.

Thanks for the North Star info. It was on my list.

I see a Blue moon for sale. Is that the one you got?

Thanks for the update. Blue Moon looks like a very nice 4040. Enjoy

There still is a beautiful Freedom in Nanaimo BC Canada on Vancouver Island. Very well cared for. Bonus too if you are from USA because exchange rate is favourable for you against the weaker Canadian dollar making your purchase power significant.

Actually the vessel appears to be in Ladysmith BC

I haven’t found this one. where is she listed?

Listed on boatdealer.ca

Lookk for 1996 Tanton offshore 45.

Let me know if you can’t find it and I can try to figure a way to send you a link

Thanks

Carl

It doesn’t appear to be a freedom 40/40
