Hello all Freedom owners,
I’m not sure how to say this so I’ll just blurt it out: I have left
Freedom and now work for Pearson Composites, LLC in Warren, RI. I
won’t dwell on the reasons for my leaving other than to say it was the
result of a downturn in my business at Freedom and Legacy this fall
and an opportunity presenting itself that I could not turn down. As
many of you know, I have been with Freedom over 27 years and have
worked on the line and in customer service for 17 of those years with
the last 10 in sales. I did not move on a whim and hope to continue
my casual relationship with you all. I will however be completely
focused on the sale of new True North power boats
(www.pearsonyachts.com)and not much involved in brokerage of any kind.
I will poke my nose onto this site from time to time and can still be
reached if desired at my new position. You have all supported me and
been kind to me in many ways and have become friends. I wish everyone
in the Freedom world all the best. Happy holidays and happy sailing.

To Mark Edwards,
We will miss you. With the growth of Legacy and the reduced emphasis on
sail (Freedom) we can understand the dynamics of the marine business.
Nevertheless we have come to rely on a “seasoned” and experienced Freedom
expert to answer our odd questions that second and third owners often have.
I for one have looked at the True North line and the Pearson heritage. Our
first cruiser was a Triton and I remember when Ev Pearson had a dinghy at
the NY Boat show floating in a shallow pool with a shower running into the
dinghy and the dinghy continuing to float. The Pearson commitment to
quality will fit with your experience, Mark, ad the True North design is one
of the best.

Mark, thank you so much for all of your wonderful help. When you showed me that personally owned Freedom 32 on 9-11, I fell in love with it and then bought one You gave me so much help with understanding the rigging and what ever else I couldn’t figure out. Mark,
Wow! As so many people have said over the years, you are Freedom. But it’s
now rather more Legacy, anyway.
Best of luck at Pearson and stay on the water.

Sorry to see you go, but I want you to know that I really appreciated the info
and help that you gave when I acquired Ladyhawk, my f45cc. I also wish you a
merry christmas and a happy new year.
Mark–
I wouldn’t be sailing a Freedom 38 were it not for you. You were right–it was the boat for me and my wife–and I have been completely happy with the boat and spoiled by her. Your advice that first year of ownership on all the little purchases and projects proved right on. I appreciate your letting me lean on you for no-nonsense, straight from the gut advice…and for bailing me out on the water one weekend by cellphone when I encountered what seemed like a serious problem.
Best of luck with new company and I hope to see you at one of those boat shows in the future.

Best of luck in your new move. I have the utmost admiration in you
and I know you will succeed. Mark was the broker both on the
purchase and the sale, and I can say unequivically that there was no
broker that even came close to his professionalism. Freedom’s loss
is certainly Pearson Composites gain. They could not have found a
better boat owner’s advocate and friend.

Like everyone who has dealt with you, I wish you the very best in your new position. Our loss is Pearson’s gain What is especially sad is that your departure probably serves as the symbolic end to the long-running joke that Freedom is still in the sailboat business. They used to build great sailboats, so there will always be great boats around to buy.
Happy holidays and best wishes for your new adventure.

Mark,
Ill add my well wishes to the chorus. You were a pleasure to deal with over the years and were responsible for my purchase of Windfall, ex Arkangel. You patiently took out a couple of complete novices and made us feel like we could really learn to sail this BIG boat and have fun doing it! You were right, it was the perfect boat for me. Good luck to you!

Hello Mark,
Greetings from snowy Maine Coast. I’d wish you luck if I though you
needed it. I’ve noticed over the many years I’ve been in business,
that people succeed who have been honest, helpful and ethical, no
matter who they work for. You were instrumental in the purchase of my
Freedom 32. You’re advice, patience and information proved invaluable
to me and is still much appreciated. And, based on the other owners
comments, you did that with eveyone. I will always speak highly of
you and although I’m not fond of stinkpots, I will recommend you to
anyone who is as a source of honest advice. Thanks for always going
out of your way to help, even when there wasn’t anything “in it for
you”. Best wishes, Tom Wales, New Harbor ME. Anoush Koon F32 #20
