martec folding props

Posted by fgljff (esfogel@…>)

I have a martec folding prop on my Freedom 25. Anyone know how to get the thing
off?

As with any other prop you have to use a prop puller. Most boat yards have them and will rent them out.
BTW, a hammer is not the solution.

Props are secured on a tapered shaft, and are prevented from slipping
by a square (cross-section) key. After you remove the nut that holds
the prop secure, a large gear puller/ prop puller will pull the prop
of the shaft. Before replacing it, consider coating the taper and the
key with an anti-seize compound which is available at auto supply
stores. Herm
