Mast boot solution

I’m wondering if anyone has used the following mast boot (link below) to stop seepage of water down the mast? Some old posts suggest using an inner tube. What has worked for you?

e.g. https://www.fisheriessupply.com/sailing-specialities-universal-mast-boots/91400000

I used the rubber that roofers use
I cut a large circle the size of the outer rim then an inner circle slighttly smaller than the mast pulled it on to the mast before stepping it. It works like the seal of a drysuit
Alternatively you can do the same but cut it wrap it aroundd the mast and glue it by using a strip as a joint
Ive had no leaks
Must rubber roofers will give you an offcut for free
No leaks

Yup, I’ve been using that mast boot for at least 5 years and it works as expected. Just don’t cut the hole too big, you want a snug fit.

That looks almost exactly how the Owners Manual for my 1990 F40 describes install the OEM mast boot, except the OEM one is of course prefit and doesn’t need trimming.

But it looks like just the ticket, and thanks in advance for a good replacement idea if I need to replace mine!
