Mast head wiring

Posted by ron barr (rwhb@…>)

I seem to have three wires leading into the Perkeo unit at
my masthead, presumably for what appears to be a dual bulb combo steaming and
anchor light set up. But there is only a single switch on the switch panel for the
steaming light. No anchor light on this model??? Anyone help out on this?
Thanks

Hey have you looked into replace the bulb/s with LEDs? Would I be safe to assume that the F30 used Perkeo also? My masthead is out and I am not looking forward to the trip up to the pearlly gates! I want to get as much stuff in my pocket so I dont have to make more then one trip. Can anyone remember what screw layout is like on the Perkeo?

Replace 'em all with LEDs.

ALL the lights, internal and external. LEDs use milliwats of electricity.

Except maybe the steaming light, which is a Forespar combination
steaming/foredeck light. DOn’t need the LED’s energy-saving advantages on a
steaming light (except for long-term survivability) because when the steaming
light is on, the engine is runing and providing plenty of juice.

Best thing I did for my boat’s electrical system.

Hey Ron and Bob,

I’ve uploaded the PDF for the manual on the Perko masthead/all around
combo lights that I think might be the ones you have. It’s in the
files section.

If what you see at the masthead is something different then you can
always look at the Perko.com site. Browse the catalog until you see
one like yours then go to the “instructions” tab and plug in the part
number.

If you still don’t see what you are looking for. Contact Perko
directly and ask them.

Hope this helps.

George

I am open to any suggestions for LED set ups on the F32 for masthead anchor and steaming/foredeck lights – what make and models? Another hole in the mast I guess for the foredeck light. If you have even a modicum of skill with a soldering iron you can’t go wrong with Bebi Electronics (www.bebi-electronics.com). They have great prices and rugged, almost bomb proof products, that put out an amazing amout of light with very low power requirements.

I sail off a mooring on the Chesapeake Bay and at the beginning of last season a sailing buddy who occupies a near by mooring mistook my new Bebi anchor light for a helicoper landing light. Now, it was the middle of the night when he noticed it and I have no idea how many toddies he had before bed…but the light is BRIGHT.

Could be the steaming light is tied in with the navigation lights? Herm

There’s just a phillips-head screw at the top of the fixture. Herm

Defender Marine has LED bulbs with most of the popular base styles.
Perhaps replacing bulb ony will save you some bucks. I used them in
my cabin lights on my F28-Mull. Herm
